What is Scribd?
Scribd lets
you publish and discover documents online. It is like a big online library
where anyone can upload. We make use of a custom Flash document viewer that
lets you display documents right in your Web browser. There are all sorts of
other features that make it easy and fun to publish, convert, embed, analyze,
and read documents.
Part of the idea behind Scribd is that everyone has a lot of documents sitting
around on their computers that only they can read. With Scribd we hope to
unlock this information by putting it on the web.
What kinds of things can I do
with documents on Scribd?- Display documents in a web browser using
our custom Flash PDF player - Perform high quality conversions between
many different formats, including Word, PDF, plain text, HTML, JPEG,
PowerPoint, Excel, Postscript, LIT, and even audio format - See all sorts of detailed information on
who is viewing each of your documents, including the geographic locations
of visitors and how people got to your doc (i.e., Google queries) - Publish a document online with its own
public URL that will be indexed by Google and other search engines and be
read by a lot of people - Embed a long or complex document in your
blog or personal webpage - Convert a document to an mp3 that you can

iTALC is a use- and powerful didactical tool for teachers. It lets you view and control other computers in your network in several ways. It supports Linux and Windows 2000/XP (Vista support will come) and it even can be used transparently in mixed environments!
In contrast to widely used commercial equivalent software, iTALC is free! This means you do not have to pay for expensive licenses or things like that. Furthermore the source-code is freely available and you’re free in changing the software to fit your needs as long as you respect the terms of iTALC’s license (GPL). Freedom in two ways!
